Hoof Care

Pick out your horses hooves at least once a day. I know once a day is a lot. I forget to do it a lot of the time but I need to learn to do it more often to keep my horses hooves healthy. When you pick out a horse's hooves, you are making sure there are no diseases in the hooves. I had a friend who had a horse that got an abscess and couldn't ride in a show because of it. She wouldn't have known if she didn't pick the hoof. In the chart below are a few of the hoof problems you should look for. Have you ever heard of twisted shoe?
