Halters are used to lead and tie your horse. It is nice to leave your horses halters on so it is easy to catch your horses, but have you ever thought of the minuses of leaving on halters? I leave my halters on in the pasture but take them off in my horses' pens. I learned the hard way why I shouldn't leave them on. During our county fair, my horse got stuck on her stall with her halter and fell down. She was getting suffocated by her halter. We had just finished with a show. I brushed my horse and fed her, and was off having fun, so I didn't know. A fellow horse 4-H member saw what was going on and with the help of her mom cut the halter off and saved my horse. I learned my lesson and hope this helps you in the long run too. I was lucky but I might not be next time.
